I think this would be good for both positive and negative feedback. At least this way, appreciation can be shown for good feedback or something added that may have been forgotten by the other party and for bad feedback maybe some context can be provided to explain what happened.
I have dealt with people who have previously had negative feedback, which made me cautious, but it turns out that they were fine and I suspect that it was due to a misunderstanding.
